Apple “Device Enrolment Program (DEP)” devices are designed to be enrolled into Intune straight out of the box. The device cannot be setup or used without being first enrolled into an MDM system, and DEP cannot be removed or wiped from the device by the user.
This document explains the installation procedure to enrol Apple iPads and iPhones devices that have been set up for Apple DEP into Intune MDM. This is usually mostly will be for new devices bought from vendors such as Academia, XMA, etc. Your experience may differ slightly, but the principal procedure of this guide will be comparable. - Power on the iOS device, and select your Language & Country.
- In the Quick Start page, select install the Set Up Manually.
- It is necessary to Choose a Wi-Fi Network. Select and sign into eduroam (if available).
- Continue on to the Remote Management page, and click Next.
- Continue, and Create a Passcode when prompted.
- Continue, and finish the Set-up until you reach the Home page.
- It is important to wait whilst the Company Portal automatically downloads and starts.
- After a few moments, the Intune Company Portal app will start and prompts you to sign in with your Edinburgh Napier login credentials.
- The Intune Company Portal will set up your device. Select Begin, then Continue.
- You will be prompted to Allow App Assignments from Edinburgh Napier. Select Continue.
- Once the setup is complete, select Done and You’re all set!
- You can find the Intune Company Portal app on the Home page.
- Open the Intune Company Portal app to see Edinburgh Napier Apps and further information.
