How do I scan a QR code?

Aimed at:  Edinburgh Napier’s staff 

QR codes, or Quick Response codes are 2 dimensional bar codes that can be read by smartphones.

Newer smartphone models allow you to scan a QR code using the camera on your device, other phones will need to have an app downloaded.

iPhones and iPads

If you use an iPhone or iPad you'll find instructions for scanning using the built in camera on the Apple website

If your iPhone / iPad does not have a built in QR code scanner then you can download a free one from the App store.

Android

Later versions of the operating system have a built in scanner using Google Lens.  

If your Android device does not have a built in QR code scanner then you can download a free one from the Play store.
