How do I run a virus scan?

Aimed at:  Edinburgh Napier’s staff 

To run a virus scan using Windows:

  • Go to Start.
  • Select Computer.
  • Right click on the drive you wish to scan e.g. C: (you can also select individual files and folders).
  • Select Scan for threats...:

          Virus Scan image

  • When prompted click Clean.
  • The on demand scanner will start running.
  • If a virus is detected, VirusScan will prompt you for action to be taken on the infected file.

If you require assistance you should contact the IS Service Desk in the first instance.
