Why do I see a warning when setting up my Office 365 email account on my mobile device that the organisation will be able to remotely wipe it?

Remote wipe is a feature of Exchange ActiveSync, which many mobile devices use to access Office 365 email.
You can trigger this feature yourself by following the instructions at

It is also possible for select staff within Information Services to trigger a remote wipe of your device, but we would only do this if you informed us that your device had been lost or stolen.
