Can I use the BitTorrent peer-to-peer file sharing application on the University network?

Aimed at:  Edinburgh Napier’s staff & students

No, the use of BitTorrent and other peer-to-peer file sharing applications is not permitted as per the Information Security Policy and technical measures have been put in place to enforce this.

If the University receives a copyright infringement notice relating to your use of BitTorrent or other file sharing applications, we will contact you and ask that you cease the activity and delete any infringing files. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action being taken.
