How do I register my mobile device?

Aimed at:  Edinburgh Napier’s staff

As part of our continuing initiatives to improve cyber resilience at the University, Information Services is required to gather information about University-owned mobile devices – laptops, tablets and smartphones – to ensure that we can account for them and the information they contain.  You must also enrol all University-owned mobile devices with the University’s Mobile Device Management (MDM) service

To assist with this process, we have developed a Mobile Device Registration websitehttps://devices.napier.ac.uk/

To register your mobile device:

  • Log in with your network username and password, you will be presented with a list of the mobile devices that have previously connected to eduroam using your details.
  • For each device listed, please confirm if it is Personal or University-owned.  Please note that if you do not make a selection for all listed devices, you will be unable to submit the form.
    • If there are any devices listed that you do not recognise, please contact the IS Service Desk?
    • If the website states that “No unregistered devices for your username have been found”, you do not need to do anything further and may Logout.
  • Submit the form. The website will then proceed to check the MDM enrolment status of any University-owned devices.
    • You will be notified on the form if your University-owned device is already enrolled in the MDM service. In this case, you do not need to do anything further and may Logout.
    • If the form confirms that the device/s are not enrolled, you must enrol them in the MDM service. The form will provide a link to instructions on how you can enrol your device.
  • Once you have successfully enrolled your device, go back to the Mobile Device Registration website and refresh the page. You should now see a message informing you that your device is enrolled in the MDM service. You do not need to do anything further and may Logout.

Please note:  the MDM service supports Android 4.0+ and iOS 7.0+. The Windows Phone operating system is not supported and since it is no longer being developed by the manufacturer, you should plan to replace any such devices with a supported Android or iOS device.
