You can Remote Desktop Connect (RDC) to your office PC either from another PC within the University or from home via the Virtual Private Network - find out more...

Before you are able to RDC you need to set up your office PC.  To set up the Remote Desktop Connection on a Windows 10 PC:

  • Click on the Start button:

  • Click Settings and choose System
  • Click Remote Desktop.
  • Click Enable Remote Desktop – if you are unable to adjust this setting contact the IS Service Desk in the first instance.

To use Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) you need your Work PC’s IP Address. If you will be using RDC with Wake on LAN (recommended for power saving) you will also need your Work PC’s MAC Address and subnet mask.

To obtain your Work PC IP, MAC address and subnet mask:

  • Double click on the “IT Support Tool” icon on the Work PC desktop:

  • Take a note of the number next to Subnet Mask
  • Close the IT Support Tool.
