The Widening Participation team have responsibility for students with caring roles. A student carer is an individual, up to the age of 25 years of age, who gives physical or emotional support, on a regular basis, to someone who could not manage without such support. This could be for a relative, partner or friend who has a long-term physical or mental illness, addiction, disability or is too frail to look after themselves. However, individuals can take on caring responsibilities at any stage of their life and provision of support provided by the student carer contact, and Widening Participation team, is available to all matriculated students irrespective of age. Contact Widening Participation by emailing: wideningaccess@napier.ac.uk
Student Funding team: There are no funding sources specifically for students with caring responsibilities, but their unique circumstances are taken into account when considering them for Discretionary Funds. In addition, Social Security Scotland benefit is imminent to being offered to students with caring responsibilities up to age 19. Contact Student Funding by emailing: studentfunding@napier.ac.uk
Academic Skills: can support students for whom there is a significant barrier to accessing the open academic skills service. This allows students to have a continued relationship with just one academic skills adviser where this is appropriate. Academic & professional services staff can refer students to this service.
