What can I do to protect myself from viruses?

Follow these steps to help protect yourself:

  • Don't view, open or run email attachments unless you're sure they're safe.
  • Check the source of incoming emails - is it a trusted source?
  • Be particularly wary of attachments that contain executable files which may launch dangerous programs (filenames end in: .exe, .ini, .bat, .pif, .vbs)
  • If an attachment looks suspicious don't take the risk - just delete it!
  • Disable pop-ups which can be used by hackers to entice you to download software.
