I have a New University owned Device – What must I do to secure it?

Aimed at:   Edinburgh Napier’s staff

1. Enable PIN, Password or Biometric authentication.
2. Set passcode to auto lock after a period of inactivity.
3. Install the latest OS and app updates, set it to auto update if possible.
4. Only download and install apps from trusted sources.
5. Enable device and storage encryption where possible.
6. Enable automatic backups to protect important data.
7. Enroll in the Mobile Device Management Service.
8. Enable “Find My” and Remote Wipe features if available.
