How do I get my SharePoint access rights changed?

Aimed at:  Edinburgh Napier’s staff

To change the permissions of an existing user the site owner needs to remove them from one group and add them to another e.g. if you want to give a current contributor administrator rights you need to remove them from the Members group and add them to the Owners group.
