What do I need to do to set up Multi-Factor Authentication?

Aimed at:  Edinburgh Napier’s staff & students

You can set up MFA now in preparation for it being implemented – you will need a computer or laptop and will need your phone nearby. 

You can set up MFA on or off campus.

Once you have set up MFA you must remove your email account from your device and re-add it using the relevant guidance below:

How to set up your email account from your Android device with MFA enabled

How to set up your email account from your Windows device with MFA enabled

How to set up your email account from your MacOS device with MFA enabled

 

You can select one of two methods to perform MFA as your default option:

MFA app imageMobile app - A push notification, or code through the Microsoft Authenticator app.
This is the most secure method and is recommended by Information Services.

MFA Phone imageAuthentication phone - A text message to your phone.

 

You can also change these at any time afterwards by navigating to https://aka.ms/mfasetup
